Cost of yachting training: course prices and what is included
Four IYT programs with different durations and prices. Below – how much each course costs, what is included, which expenses are separate, and which seasonal discounts are currently available.
How much does certified training cost?
The cost of an IYT course depends on the chosen program, duration, and location. Bareboat Skipper is the main format for future skippers, while Competent Crew, Coastal / Offshore, and additional practices cover specific goals: first-time experience on a yacht, skill advancement, or preparation for the next level.
The VHF course is included in Bareboat Skipper. The plastic IYT Bareboat Skipper certificate is paid separately.

What is included in the course price
The IYT course price includes program training, practice on a training yacht, instructor guidance, study materials, onboard accommodation, and exam preparation. Travel and meals are paid separately. The plastic IYT Bareboat Skipper certificate is also paid separately, so it is best to plan the final budget together with dates and location.
IYT Program
Full theoretical and practical program for the chosen format. Theory is covered alongside onboard practice.
Work on the yacht
All training takes place on a training yacht: mooring, sail handling, navigation, passages.
IYT Instructor
The instructor leads the group from the first day to the exam. They check readiness and point out gaps before the assessment.
Study materials
Notes and charts for the duration of the course. Everything you need to complete the program and pass the exam.
Cabin on the yacht
During training, the crew lives on the yacht. A cabin berth is included in the course price.
IYT Document
After passing the exam, an international IYT certificate is issued, which is required by charter companies.
Which expenses are paid separately
Travel and meals are not included in the course price. The plastic IYT Bareboat Skipper certificate is paid separately. Below are approximate amounts based on training in Turkey. A precise estimate for specific dates is provided upon request.
Flight
Europe – Turkey in July, approximately 300 € round-trip. The amount varies with season and departure date.
Food
On average 90 € per person per week in Turkey. The crew buys provisions for the yacht at supermarkets.
From airport to marina
Round trip – approximately from 17 €. We help arrange transfers for VIP and full groups.
VHF Operator Course
The VHF course is included in the Bareboat Skipper package.
IYT Bareboat Skipper plastic certificate
The IYT Bareboat Skipper plastic certificate is issued separately. Cost – 250 - 300 €, depending on production speed and delivery.

Seasonal discounts and additional offers
Off-season is discount time. In peak summer season, discounts do not apply. Additionally – offers for companions of the participant, families with children, and those who book a whole cabin.
Additional discounts
- Discount for companions of the participant who join the same course.
- Discounts for children – amount depends on age.
- Discount for booking a whole cabin by one participant: second berth at 50% discount.
Discounts cannot be combined. We will provide the exact conditions for your group upon request.

Bareboat Skipper in Turkey – 850–1400 € for the course, plus approximately 300–450 € for flight, meals, and transfer depending on duration. The plastic IYT Bareboat Skipper certificate is paid separately. The exact amount is calculated upon request.
